WELL, THIS IS IT, AND I HAVE ENJOYED ALL OF THE COMPANY AND NEW THINGS THAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM ALL OF YOU.......UNIT 10

What advice would you now give to someone writing his/her first scientific paper?

The first thing that I would suggest to someone who has never written a pape of this type is to make sure that you have plenty of information on all of the sections that you would like your paper to have in it.

Who cares if you have to much information, you can sort through it and if anything has to be changed or enhanced at the end of the term before the paper is due, you will have enough information to C.Y.A. if needed in the end.

When you turn in your final paper don't for get to follow the directions and add the abstract page as one of us in the class did. It is one of the hardest parts of the paper and I realized to late that I had not added it, even though my title page has an abstract written on it.

Don't worry if anyone is going to like what you have choosen to write about. As long as the paper follows the guide lines and it is something that peaks your intrest, you are writting for yourself not someone else.

Don't stress out over the paper relax and have fun with it, not all research papers have to have total seriousness, a little humor here and there makes for a more intresting read.

Good Luck to anyone new who might read this post,

Sherry Waters

P.S. This will be my last post of this term, good luck to all.

...AND NOW THE END IS NEAR..... (LOL, cant remember who wrote this) UNIT 9

(THIS IS A SAND SCULPTURE, AMAZING WHAT YOU
CAN DO WITH SAND, ISN'T IT????????? )

With your paper done or almost done, how do you feel ?

Well, I'm not exactly sure if I feel relief or not with my paper done and read a thousand times. I'm sure it is ready to turn in but I am going to wait until closer to the end of the week. I have handed out the new edit pens to the friends and am patiently waiting for their feed back. I have 4 total out and have heard from only 1 so far.

I am nervous though, I think we all get this way when there is a grade pending a very important paper of this type, being a final grade and all.

I have a sense of accomplishment, I know that there is nothing more to do then wait, which sometimes is the hardest part of all, like waiting for the arrival of a new baby.

I am very tired as I spent most of the night and pretty much all of today finishing this paper as I have to find time to finish the other class final paper also. I did however choose to finish this paper first, as I had the most information to work with to finish it.

I have good feelings about writing after this term. I have finally achieved the gift of writing APA citations in the right format. I have also learned how to use the hang function of the 2007 word, which is something that I did not know how to do. My idea of writing has only grown as I am able to more easily incorporate citation into papers now and I will be using this form of writing alot I think in the future.

I don't have specific topic to research, as I have said in the past I didn't even know I was going to write about this final paper topic until I started to look through the Kaplan Library. I am a spontaneous writer so I never know from one minute to the next what I am going to write about until something catches my eye.

DO YOU PLAN TO CONTUNUE BLOGGING???? UNIT 8

I must admit that I have enjoyed the experience of blogging back and forth with my fellow classmates, even though there has not been alot of interaction with this idea as Kaplan had thought there would be. Not that there couldn't have been had everyone answered back and forth as planned.

I don't see that there is a need for blogging after class has finished for the term. I didn't blog before this class, I didn't have time not to mention the types of people out there in the world to blog back and forth with.

To be honest with all of you I feel that blogging is for people who have nothing better to do with their spare time. I have enjoyed blogging with my class mates though. The ones who did in fact take time to read and blog back.

ANYTHING BUT CLONING.....UNIT 7....... =-0

Is there anything that you have found shocking or intriguing in the process or your research?
Considering my paper is about dogs and humans mostly in comparison or what the dog has discovered to help human health/medications/treatments, or what the humans can help the dog with medications/treatments.

I would like to be able to compare the reproduction between the dog and the humans a little further into context, but it seems if you look any further then the actual way they bear children it turns into cloning. From what I have read they are saying that the dog gnome can replace some of the human gnomes, in order to clone people, or animals of various types.

I am not looking into cloning in any way shape of form, as I do not agree with it. Some say that it is basically the same as in-vitro (artificial insemination), HOW could they compare cloning with this. In my opinion cloning is a scientific method of developing humans or animals and there is so much that could go wrong with this. In-vitro is planting a human egg into a human body, not into a test tube for growing, into a human body. I just have moral and ethic standards that I live by and cloning is not one of them.

Just like cryo-genics, I don't agree with this either. I feel that when you die, then it is time for another healthy human being to take over in your place. Why would you want to freeze yourself until a cure for your illness, disease, or disorder is found. It might end up that it would be so far out of your time that you would be lost and what good would it be to be old, healthy and not know what is going on in the world. Most of the time people are old when they die, or they have done what their life expectancies was from the beginning of the natural life, over the artificial life.

I am disappointed like I said that there is nothing out there that can help with the dog/human reproduction issue. Not that I expected extraordinary findings, as humans and animals can not breed together. Wouldn't that be something to think about a dog/human baby? I can imagine or any other type of animal/human baby. Natural standards are set for a reason I believe, and to some extent the world of science has to let this natural balance work, and I do not believe cloning is holding the natural balance of the evolution tree.

I would appreciate any help that anyone has to offer on the reproduction comparison issue of the dog, verses human.

After writing this blog today, I have I don't know how found some information on infants/dogs. I think I might have found the answer to my own question, THOUGHTS PLEASE PEOPLE, THOUGHTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I HAVE NO CONSENTRATION AND A HEADACHE FROM H-------- !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, everyone I am at a point right now where I have two papers due and I don't have the energy after the last 2 weeks to do anything.

I am hoping that after venting on this blog and later today (it is 2:53 a.m. here in Port Huron Michigan right now) that I will find the energy and the concentration to do what I need to do.
The anatomy outline should go pretty easy, its the paper for this class that I need to finish writ ting so I can get it turned in on time.

I have these really bad migraine head aches and sometimes they cause me to have numbness usually on the right side of my body not to often on the left, and I also forget the names of people or where I am at. They last usually 2 hours, and then a really bad headache for a couple days after words. I have learned through my studies that these could be mini strokes, I have gone to the doctor but they blame it on the migraine's and the fact that I lose my blood pressure to the brain due to the vein restriction. So anyway today was one of those headache days.

Funny story, I was at the bingo hall with one of my friends when on of these episodes came on me and she got mad because I couldn't remember her name or where we were, she thought that I was BSing her, this was when this first started to happen about 3 years ago, so they didn't last but only 1 hour. She called my daughter to make sure that I was really in one of these episodes and then she didn't think it was so funny she wanted to take me to the hospital, but I told her to just take me where I live so I could go to sleep.

It is weird because you know the faces and the places to look at them but you cant remember a thing or names, and one side of your body is all numb and prickly feeling. So I just take a pill and sleep them off.

I have a headache right now, but I need to try to get back into the grove so I can finish all of this work.

Thanks for being such good class friends and listening again,

Sherry W.

P.S. Thank god for spell check

WHAT HAVE I BEEN THROUGH IN THE LAST 6 WEEKS..?????.....UNIT 6

The last 6 weeks have been busy weeks for me trying to get information together for two different research papers. One that contains information pertaining to Dogs/Humans and one that pertains to Body Functions and Joints.

I still haven't touched the body paper nor do I have near enough information to do this weeks assignment outline for this paper.

My head is reeling with the paper about the Dog/humans, I have found alot of stuff that I could use if I wanted to write something about cloning, but that to me would be going against my moral ethics. So now the paper is going to focus on the types of diseases, disorders, and treatments that the dog has helped the humans discover.

I would like to thank all of you who included my father in your prayers. That was something that I did not expect. I have some issues with the step-mother that I would like to resolve permanently, but I cant afford to go to prison and be away from my family. I think that she has a guilty conscious about something though. She has tried to contact me more in the last two weeks since dads death, then she ever has in the whole 10 years we didn't talk. I had nothing to settle with my father, so I don't feel bad about anything, we had an understanding between the two of us, maybe that is the problem she thinks she has missed out on something between my father and I that to this day she knows nothing about and it is eating her alive. Well she will never know and I do not intend to give her the chance to find out what she thinks she missed, which as far as I am concerned nothing. She feels bad that after the first visit to the hospital the night I had to leave class early that I did not go back. That was the agreement many years ago between the two of us. That we would not sit around and wait for each other to die, that life would go on, as it would have to anyway with or without each other. And now the step-mother sits an wonders what she will do because with out the old man as she would say she is now alone, people like her should think about how they treat others during their life time or they may end up alone, and she is well on her way to loneliness. Her son doesn't even like her.

Okay, well that is the extent of the last 6 weeks in brief, thank you to all who have read this and taken time to comment if you have. Even if you haven't thanks for reading my ravings about death, step-mothers, and the next assignment,

JUST BECAUSE I'M WEIRD DOES THAT MAKE MY WRITING STYLE WEIRD TOO???????

First detailed comparison of DNA differences among purebred dogs may help identify genes associated with specific traits or diseases in humans

Discuss your personal writing process and see what others have to say about your style.

I don't really have a writing style or at least I don't think of it as one.

I just write down all of the things that are going through my head about the subject that I am writing about. If the research and information that I have already looked up, printed, highlighted, and scribbled in side notes match my thoughts or ideas then I am on the right track. If I don't have the answers to my personal questions then I know I am headed in the wrong direction and I have to look up some more references and make some more notes to get were I want to be.

During the writing process though I write down all of my ideas in statement form, or any forms in which I think that I might use for the paper. Sometimes I end up with a paragraph here or there and I lay them all out on the table and put them all together by reading them out loud and organizing them that way. Then I sit down in front of the computer and get to work.

I find that I do the best of my writing by waiting until the last day before the dead line. I sit down get it all together, print it out hand it out to a few of my best friends(pen included) they love it they always get a new pen, and not just a pen a special pen that I think reflects their personality. They read it make their notes, highlights and side ideas and then around 1/2 in the morning I sit down and rehash it all over again.

This has brought me down to the day of the deadline, its do or die. I read my paper silently, out loud, to my kids, to the dog, fix it, and by midnight of the due date it is ready for the drop box and Kay-SA-Ra, it is finite........

Does that make me weird, or does that make my writing style weird, I never thought of it as any type of style until I started school at Kaplan, but from what I have heard allot of people write their final projects this way, THE WEIRD WRITING STYLE GROUP.

THANKS FOR READING,
Sherry W.
